A quick note around your child’s assessment for the year. This year, the elementary (K-6) grading scale changed to align with the junior high scales that changed last year. To summarize the current grading system:
- Levels of Achievement are the scores teachers in kindergarten through to grade 8 use to indicate a student's level of performance, in relation to the grade level outcomes in the Alberta Curriculum. This is a 5-point system.
- The newly added category is “not yet”, which is scored as a “1” on the five point scale. Essentially, it means that the old “beginning” descriptor has been split into two.
- The descriptors for each level are as follows (you will note that the current levels 3-5 are highly similar to last years levels 2-4).
- If you have any questions about this change, please let me know
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5 |
