Parent Code of Conduct - School Sporting Events

code of conduct

Hello Mustang Parents,

I hope this message finds you well. As we continue through the season, I wanted to take a moment to address some important guidelines for parent conduct at our sporting events. Our goal is to create a positive and supportive environment for the players, coaches, and all families involved.

Parent Conduct:

We ask that all parents demonstrate respect for our players, coaches, officials, and opposing teams at all times. Encouragement and support are essential for building a positive atmosphere, and we kindly request that any frustrations or disagreements be managed appropriately. Negative comments about players, officials or coaches will not be tolerated. Let’s remember that this is a learning experience for the athletes, and setting the right example helps foster their growth and enjoyment of the game.

The 24-Hour Rule:

We understand that emotions can run high during and after games, and sometimes you may feel the need to address a concern with the coach. To ensure that any concerns are communicated thoughtfully and constructively, we encourage parents to observe the "24-Hour Rule." This rule simply asks parents to wait at least 24 hours after a game before raising any issues with a coach. This allows for a more productive and respectful conversation when emotions have settled.

Our Coaches are Volunteers:

It’s important to remember that our coaches are all volunteers, dedicating immense time and effort to the team. They commit countless hours to practices, games, and planning to give the players the best possible experience. Their goal, like ours, is to help the athletes develop their skills and love for the sport, and they deserve our gratitude and support.

Playing Time:

Please understand that playing time is not always equal for all athletes. Coaches make decisions based on many factors, including effort, skill development, game strategy, and team dynamics. While playing time may vary, each athlete has an important role on the team and contributes to the overall success in different ways. We ask that parents support their child in understanding that every role, whether on the field or off, is valuable.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making this season a positive experience for everyone involved. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you,
